First Grade Friday News - January 7


 
I hope that everyone had a wonderful Christmas and that everyone has recovered from
the big snowstorm.  I’m sure the children will have many stories to tell about snow.   

Chapel offerings during January will go to Heifer International.  CLS will buy a water buffalo to give to a family overseas. Water buffalos will provide families in need with milk and help in planting crops.

Report cards and your child’s latest STAR reading test report will be sent home on Thursday, Jan. 10.  You do not need to return either of these to school, but please sign and return the attached signature form so that I know you received them.

Dates to remember:
Mon., Jan. 7           School resumes
Thurs., Jan. 10       Report cards go home

The week ahead:
Spelling words:  shot, shock, shell, she, shelf, trash, crash, rush, he, Jesus
(Most children need daily, written practice to do well on spelling tests.)
Religion:  The baptism of Jesus
Reading skill:  Details
Math:  Buying things with dimes and pennies, Subtraction
Language/Writing:  Proper nouns, Compare and contrast stories
Science/Social Studies:  Antarctica
Character Education:  Trustworthiness
